The Baltic region has growing opportunities within outbound tourism – and to address these opportunities, last week, we co-hosted a webinar with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), bringing together more than 70 hotel managers from across Thailand.
During the webinar, it was highlighted how the Baltics are emerging as promising source markets, with increasing interest in long-haul travel, with tourist arrivals to Thailand increasing significantly.
Throughout the webinar, we shared a comprehensive overview of the Baltic traveller profile, offering actionable insights and tips that hotel managers could immediately apply in their marketing and guest experience strategies. We explored key questions such as:
- What matters most to Baltic travellers when choosing Thailand as a destination?
- Where do they find travel inspiration?
- How do they typically book their trips?
- What types of accommodation do they prefer?
- Which experiences do they prioritise while travelling?

Our presentation revealed that Baltic travellers with an interest in Thailand are highly motivated by nature and experiences in the great outdoors; however, food experiences saw the largest increase, underlining the importance of offering unique and authentic food experiences to travellers. They often seek inspiration through social media and recommendations from friends and family.
We also discussed their favourite holiday types, noting that a staggering 50 per cent have sun and beach holidays as their preferred type of holiday. In terms of budget, 53 per cent of Baltic travellers with an interest in Thailand plan to increase or keep their travel budget as is. We understand why, when we look at the performance of the Baltic economies. Currently, the Baltic economies are improving, benefiting the Baltic households and making it possible to increase private consumption.
We believe that the Baltic market will only become more interesting in the years to come. Therefore, it was exciting to share valuable and actionable insights with the partners of TAT.
