Every year the World of Coffee trade fair takes place in a European city – and it’s the largest of its kind on the continent. This year was no exception with the fair being held in Copenhagen. For the 2024 edition, Peru took the spotlight as the portrait country under the brand “Coffees from Peru – Unique Specialties” launched by the tourist board PROMPERÚ.

In connection with the fair, Related helped PROMPERÚ with their kickoff event. We invited relevant media contacts, influencers and travel agents to get to know more about the Peruvian specialty coffee which Peru is famous for. The guests tasted different Peruvian coffee blends, coffee-infused drinks as well as Peruvian wine, chocolate and dishes – all while being entertained by festive traditional Peruvian dancers.

Several of the invited influencers and journalists only knew little about what Peruvian coffees have to offer, and the event greatly helped enhance their awareness about Peru as a coffee destination. Moreover, many great connections were made during the event, which also aimed at building relations in the Danish market.

Peruvian Coffee and the Danish Market

Peruvian coffee is a great match with Danish consumers, who have a refined taste for specialty coffees that often score higher than the global average. They appreciate select varieties such as lightly roasted, floral, and acidic coffees, aligning perfectly with the offerings from Peru. As a result, Peruvian coffee has also seen significant growth in exports to Denmark over the past three years, growing from exports of 1.1 million USD in 2021 to a staggering 6.3 million USD in 2023.

Did you know…

Among the things that makes Peruvian coffee special is the fact that it is mainly cultivated at altitudes above 1,000 meters in jungle regions. Moreover, the diverse microclimates, soils, and altitudes across Peru give each specialty coffee its own character, aroma, and flavor.
