From the 3rd to the 7th of September, Henrik and Helene attended the annual LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority) International Summit together with other PR representatives from all over the world. During four content-packed days they attended exiting meetings, explored the destination first-hand and socialized and networked with the other PR agencies.
Amongst other things, they met with different partners in Las Vegas, which gave the opportunity to discuss possibilities for future collaborations in the Nordic market.
There were also plenty of time for exploring the destination first-hand. Together with the other PR representatives Henrik and Helene for example attended a so-called scavenger hunt. In smaller teams they were taking turns visiting different locations – from both the well-known to new attractions and neighborhoods – to get a better understanding of the culture in the city.
One of the most popular and famous attractions in Las Vegas is the “O” by Cirque du Soleil. A spectacular show, at which Henrik and Helene were lucky to get behind the scenes. When asked about his favorite moment of the entire trip, Henrik didn’t hesitate to point out this event:
– Apart from spending time with a lot of fantastic people, the trip peaked when I was behind the scenes of the “O” by Cirque du Soleil. It’s a fantastic set-up and show in Las Vegas that has existed for 20 years now– and it’s the most profit-making production in the world!
During the trip, Henrik and Helene also learned how sports tourism is expected to have major impact on Las Vegas in the coming years. The NHL team Golden State Warriors, that was in the Stanley Cup Final last season, has already drawn a lot of attention from both tourists and locals. Next year, in 2019, sports fans can experience Las Vegas’ new women’s basketball team, the Las Vegas Aces, when they will be playing the WNBA tournament. Ultimately, in 2020 the NFL team Oakland Raiders will relocate to Las Vegas under the name “Las Vegas Raiders”.
Now that Henrik is back in the office, he looks back at the trip to Las Vegas and the LVCVA with excitement:
– When returning from Vegas you are so high on great experiences, and representing a destination like this makes me proud, he ends.
