After having worked with VISITFLANDERS since 2014, we were happy to learn that we were recently awarded another four-year contract. This means that we will continue to be the Scandinavian representative for VISITFLANDERS in terms of PR and trade – and now also MICE – until 2021.
Do discuss plans, strategies and focus areas for the coming years – and concrete activities for 2018 – Henrik and Christina went to Flanders in early August. Besides having meetings with the team at the VISITFLANDERS head office in central Brussels, they also get to experience some of the destination’s recent highlights. Among them were the brand-new meeting and convention center located in Antwerp Zoo and the brewery De Koninck, where they learned about the history of Belgian beer and had a beer tasting, followed by a nice Latin American inspired dinner at the cool restaurant next door. They also went on a guided walking tour in Leuven – a university city with a mix of young, trendy vibe and a rich culture and heritage.
One of the strategic choices that has been agreed for Scandinavia for the coming years is to focus even further on the charming art cities of Flanders: Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Brussels, Leuven and Mechelen – that all offer both modern culture, charming history, experimenting gastronomy, handcrafted chocolate, tasty beers, fascinating art, and much more. This means they are all great city break or MICE destinations themselves – but with a very convenient train connection between the cities, it’s super easy to experience more than one city during the same trip; even if you only visit for a few days.
We look forward to working on attracting even more Scandinavian travelers to Flanders.
